Three rooms, not one fog

Finance, in this classroom, is three rooms that share arithmetic and do not share a boss. Personal finance is a household: bills, debt, cash for shocks, what you keep after a life happens. Corporate finance is a firm: what to own, how to pay for it, whether a project earns more than it costs. Public finance is a state: taxes, spending, the debt the public already voted for, the money a central bank sits next to.

Finance, in this classroom, is three rooms that share arithmetic and do not share a boss. Personal finance is a household: bills, debt, cash for shocks, what you keep after a life happens. Corporate finance is a firm: what to own, how to pay for it, whether a project earns more than it costs. Public finance is a state: taxes, spending, the debt the public already voted for, the money a central bank sits next to.

Mixing the rooms is how a pitch works. “The government printed, so you must buy this coin” skips the household (can you stand the hole?), the firm (does anyone earn?), and the statute (who actually issued what?). “Apple should budget like a family” skips that a firm can issue shares and debt a household cannot. “I run my checking like the Treasury” is a joke that stops being funny at rent.

The shared spine is time and risk: a dollar today is not a dollar later, and a promise that might not pay is not a promise that will. That spine does not pick a . It does not pick a coin. It does not file your 1040.

Human: if someone says they work “in finance,” which room. A teller, a CFO, and a budget staffer do not have the same Tuesday. You do not need their Tuesday. You need the door label so a slogan cannot walk you into the wrong room. Look. Do not buy. Not a broker. Not a planner.
