A commodity is a good with a grade
A commodity, in classroom words, is a good people treat as interchangeable once it meets a grade: an ounce of gold at a fineness, a barrel of a named crude, a bushel of a harvest. The grade is the product. The sticker is not.

A commodity, in classroom words, is a good people treat as interchangeable once it meets a grade: an ounce of gold at a fineness, a barrel of a named crude, a bushel of a harvest. The grade is the product. The sticker is not.
A share is a residual claim on a firm. A coin is a network unit with a key. A barrel is a barrel. Mixing the three is how a person buys a miner because “it’s gold,” or a because “it’s oil,” and then meets a residual or a key.
Nominative: West Texas Intermediate — WTI — stays with that grade’s story; COMEX stays with that market’s operator. We do not speak for them. A teaching on this board is looking. It is not a warehouse receipt.
Human: if you cannot say what you would take delivery of, you are still looking at a sticker. Sit with the good. Look. Do not buy. Not a pit.
