February 1637 is a memory of a bulb, not a law
Tulip mania, in the usual classroom picture, sat in the Dutch Republic in the 1630s. Contracts on bulbs — some still in the ground — printed wild , then collapsed. February 1637 is the usual peak-month sentence. A flower is not a share. A forward on a flower is not a coin. The keep is older: a story plus leverage plus a last that only exists if the next person pays.

Later writers turned 1637 into a morality play. Morality plays skip the actual contracts, the plague year, and the fact that most of a country’s was not a tulip. A famous mania is a record of one corner of a book. It is not a template that prints on schedule.
People still sell “this is tulips” as a reason to size the other way. Calling something tulips is a mood. Moods are allowed. Moods are not a .
