Scarcity is the first word
Economics, in this classroom, starts with a dull fact: time, attention, metal, hours, and land are limited. Wants are not. is that gap. It is not “the store ran out of a snack.” It is why a choice has a cost even when a shelf looks full. Lionel Robbins, in An Essay on the Nature and Significance of Economic Science (1932), gave the usual classroom sentence: economics studies human behavior as a relationship between ends and scarce means that have alternative uses. Nominative: that stays with Robbins. We do not sell a 1932 personality.

A scarce thing can still be cheap. A plentiful thing can still be dear. Price is a later lesson. This lesson is the door: if nothing is scarce, there is nothing to choose, and there is no subject. If everything is scarce in the same way, you still have not named which use you gave up. Naming the use is the work.
People sell as a dare. “Rare, therefore must rise.” Rarity is a count. Demand is a schedule. Mixing them is how a pitch sells a rock, a coin, or a run. This path will not size a rock. A teaching last on this board, when we show one, is a print. It is not proof the world ran out.
Human: you already live this. An evening is scarce. You can read this path or watch a clip. You cannot do both with the same hour. That is economics before a graph. Look. Do not buy. Not a broker. Not a planner. Not a campaign. A famous year is a memory, not a coupon.
Say it back below. Then the next lesson opens. If you leave the page, we will ask to save your spot.
